The all new AT4 is a beast and designed to tackle whatever you can throw at it. It is loaded with a bunch of extra features including:
- GMC MultiPro™ Tailgate – industry-first six-function tailgate
- 2-inch factory-installed suspension left
- AutoTrac 2-speed transfer case
- Off-road suspension, Rancho® monotube shocks and skid plates
- Automatic locking rear differential
- Integrated Dual Exhaust
Now the 5.3L V8 is more than enough for most people, but if you really want a rush you must drive it with the optional 6.2L V8 that has been mated with the brand new 10-speed transmission. You can truly feel the difference with those extra 65hp, 77ft-lb’s, and 2 more gears. Those extra two gears mean that first and second gear can be even lower than they were with the 8speed which is great for those times you need 4 low. And with the new camera system in the 2019 Sierra you can be your own spotter.
The AT4 also sports Sierra’s revised interior, which features a 8-inch infotainment screen, easy-to-read gauges, and steering wheel controls. Big knobs, buttons, and toggles for the temperature controls, radio, and various vehicle functions (lighting, drive modes, trailering, etc.) make it easy to interact with the vehicle while wearing gloves.
The 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 is a strong addition to the brand’s pickup portfolio, giving outdoorsy explorers a legitimate option. The fact that its on-road demeanor is only modestly affected by its taller ride and Rancho shocks is a tribute to the engineering behind the package. GMC plans on eventually splashing the AT4 badge across its entire lineup of crossovers, trucks, and SUVs. So what model is next?
