Alright, so thanks to my spy photographers for the first time ever we’re getting a look at the completely undisguised interior on the facelifted 2024 GMC Sierra HD prototype, giving us a good feel for all the changes destined for the upcoming truck.
The interior looks identical to, or at least highly influenced by GMC’s refreshed sierra 1500, which makes sense considering how great the new 1500 looks and the wildly positive response its received since it initial debut. The infotainment screen appears to be a perfect match for the 13.4 inch diagonal touchscreen that we’ve seen in the 1500, while the dash layout, button arrangement, and HVAC vent placement all appeared to be consistent with one of the Sierras more base configurations.
Now although we can’t get a direct look at the gauge cluster in these photos, based on everything else we’re seeing I think it’s safe to assume that the 12.3” fully customizable digital cluster will also be arriving with the 2024 Sierra HD’s Refresh.
One major difference that I did notice with this HD prototype in comparison to the refreshed 1500 is the column shifter. For 2022 the work spec Silverado 1500 trims and Sierra 1500 PRO are the only models to retain the column shifter…..but they also go without the big touch screen and other high tech necessities. On this HD prototype however, we can clearly see that the column shifter has been retained in conjunction with the vastly improved and much larger touch screen infotainment screen. As of right now we’re not sure if the Sierra HD’s current low-tier interior will still be in play on the updated HD Pro trims, or if the column shifter is a fixture throughout the Sierra HD’s entire lineup…..or perhaps the HD doesn’t lose the column shifter until we hit the Denali trim….we’ll just have to wait a bit longer to find out for sure.
Looking really quick at the exterior of the truck, we can still see that the front is wrapped up in a significant amount of camouflage suggesting to us that we can obviously expect some front fascia updates, as well as some possible tailgate and taillight enhancements. The wheels on this truck are the base wheels for the Pro trim level…but the chrome bits around the windows and chrome door handles suggest this is a higher than Pro level trim…and although the grill screams Denali…it should be noted that nearly all of the Sierra HD prototypes that have been spotted to date have been seen with the grill regardless of the trim level being tested. The lack of standard Denali running boards on this prototype make me think this is most likely a sub-denali configuration.
Personally, I do expect the refreshed Sierra 1500’s influence on the HD’s to spill over to it’s front fascia redesign as GM does appear to be streamlining its design language across all of it’s models…however I’m sure there will be some slight distinctions between the two. Something I’m sure of however is that the HD customers are going to be very happy to see that the upcoming refresh will in fact include that much needed interior update that everyone has been begging for.
As of now we don’t have any info as far as an expected release date other than the expectation of the truck being released next year as a 2024 model. Of course, as I get new info I’ll be sure to share it with all of you so be sure to subscribe to the channel so that you don’t miss out.
As always, I’d like to thank you all for watching, if you made it this far into the video if you could do be a huge favor by just smashing that like button…it really helps me out in a big way and keep the YouTube algorithm gods happy. Be sure to check out my friends over at GMPartsDepartment.com for all your gm oem parts needs….and I’ll catch you all in the next video. Thanks again guys, and take care.
UPDATE – I realized I did make a small errror in the video. You can get the column shifter and the new screens as long as you stick with bench seats and either SLE or LT trims and up. Chevy WT, Custom, CTB, all retain the column shift but the older interior setup. SLE and LT trims with bench seats can retain the column shift and get the screens, however they do have more limited options available to them. Yeaaaa even I screw up reading my notes sometimes haha thanks for watching!
